Exploration of Generative Adversarial Networks for automated icon design.
Challenge
Friend earning significant income selling hand-designed icons online. Attempted to automate icon creation using emerging AI techniques. Limited training data. Need to generate diverse, label-specific icons. Early-stage GAN technology.
Solution & Approach
Scraped Google Images with automated search for icon categories. Built labeled dataset (save icon, house icon, clock icon, etc.). Trained GAN on icon generation task.
Outcome & Impact
Generated icons not market-ready quality. Usable as base for manual design work. Learned about GANs and image generation. Completed in few weeks. Learned how fast AI is evolving.
